AVS Equipment in GRP

AVS (Audible and visual Signaling devices) products made in GRP ( Glass Fibre reinforced Polyester)

The advantage of GRP is that the material is totally independent of environmentally conditions such as humidity, corrosive substances etc.

The use of GRP materials has the last decades grown substantially in Europe and connected markets due to the benefits. GRP has been recognized in the O&G market as a substitute of Stainless steel due to the resistance of harsh environment conditions as well as savings of weight and cost.

GRP is also fare more favorable than use of aluminum, especially when it comes to casting from primary and secondary alloys. Aluminum Alloys like this is quite vulnerable when it comes to certain aggressive substances found in hydrocarbon environments. This can in many cases affect the main safety properties of an Ex d product like this (corrosion on the flame part), which can create unsafe situations if it’s not dealt with correctly.

A second issue of concern with Aluminum alloys is galvanic corrosion when installed together with other materials, this can cause seriously defects on the products if it’s not correctly dealt with. All above concerns do not affect the properties of GRP, either in the short or long term. Secondly, GRP is also total electrically isolating materials such as the product will not transport a harsh voltage to people or constructions around if an electrical failure caused by any reason should arise with the power supplied.
